Dielectrics are materials that are poor conductors of electricity, but excellent at holding or insulating energy. The nonconducting properties of these ceramics are well known, and some of these ceramics are made into extremely effective dielectrics. Indeed, more than 90% of all capacitors are produced with ceramic materials serving as the dielectric.
